Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has reaffirmed his commitment to deepening democratic governance by aligning with the aspirations of the people, pledging support for the quest by stakeholders in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area to produce the next senator for Gombe Central in 2027.
The governor made the pledge on Thursday while receiving a delegation from Yamaltu/Deba at the Government House, Gombe.
The delegation comprised traditional rulers, community leaders, politicians across party lines, technocrats, as well as youth and women groups.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the delegation appealed for the governor’s backing to actualise their demand for equitable representation in the Gombe Central Senatorial District, currently represented by Mohammad Danjuma Goje.
They argued that the senatorial seat has remained in Akko Local Government Area for a prolonged period, stressing the need for equity, fairness and inclusivity in the distribution of political offices within the district.
Responding, Governor Yahaya assured the delegation of his support, describing their demand as legitimate and deserving of attention.
He emphasised that democracy must reflect the will of the people, adding that inclusivity remains central to his administration’s governance philosophy
